One lake, Two Counties
Lake Clarke is the dividing line between York and Lancaster Counties, but there's fun to be had on both sides! For boating, for picnicking, for water skiing, or for some simple fun in the sun, recreational activities abound along the shores of Lake Clarke.

The scenic Susquehanna River attracts many outdoor enthusiasts, who enjoy a variety of recreational activities as the seasons permit. Kayaking and canoeing are popular activities which require portage around the dam. In order for paddlers to continue on their journey, 24 hours prior notice is required to ensure safe portage around the dam.

Directions

From Pittsburgh and Harrisburg

  1. Take PA Turnpike to Exit 19 (Harrisburg East).
  2. Exit Turnpike. Get onto Route 283 East (toward Lancaster).
  3. Go about 28 miles. Exit and get onto Route 741 East.
  4. Go about 9.0 miles (11 traffic lights) to New Danville.
  5. Turn right at light in New Danville onto the New Danville Pike.
  6. Continue on this road about 6 miles; turn left at "T" onto River Road.
  7. Go about 0.5 mile on River Road, turn right onto Powerhouse Road.

From Allentown and Reading

  1. Take Route 222 South. As you approach Lancaster, get onto Route 30 West.
  2. Go about 3.6 miles on Route 30 West to exit for Route 741.
  3. Go to end of exit ramp, turn left onto Route 741 East.
  4. Go about 7.5 miles (9 traffic lights) to New Danville.
  5. Turn right at light in New Danville onto the New Danville Pike.
  6. Continue on this road about 6 miles; turn left at "T" onto River Road.
  7. Go about 0.5 mile on River Road, turn right onto Powerhouse Road.

From Philadelphia

  1. Take PA Turnpike (I-76) West to Exit 21 - Lancaster/Reading.
  2. Exit Turnpike. Get onto Route 222 South (toward Lancaster) for 15 miles.
  3. Get onto Route 30 West for about 3.6 miles to exit for Route 741.
  4. Go to end of exit ramp, turn left onto Route 741 East.
  5. Go about 7.5 miles (9 traffic lights) to New Danville.
  6. Turn right at light in New Danville onto the New Danville Pike.
  7. Continue on this road about 6 miles; turn left at "T" onto River Road.
  8. Go about 0.5 mile on River Road, turn right onto Powerhouse Road.

From Baltimore and Washington

  1. Take Baltimore Beltway to Exit 24 (I-83 North).
  2. Take I-83 North for about 40 miles to Exit 8 - Market Street. Go straight through intersection at end of ramp.
  3. At the 2nd traffic light after this intersection, turn right onto Route 30 East.
  4. Continue on Route 30 East for about 19 miles to exit for Millersville (Route 741).
  5. Turn right at end of exit ramp onto Route 741 East.
  6. Go about 7.5 miles (9 traffic lights) to New Danville.
  7. Turn right at light in New Danville onto the New Danville Pike.
  8. Continue on this road about 6 miles; turn left at "T" onto River Road.
  9. Go about 0.5 mile on River Road, turn right onto Powerhouse Road.
